The hidden curriculum can promote unsafe behavior. First and foremost, medical schools and teaching hospitals should raise awareness about the hidden curriculum and its impact on safety. Teachers and students should be trained together, with sessions that emphasize effective communication strategies and allow clinicians to reflect on their everyday practices.
