Disagrees with John Harris Jr. and enters into a dialogue on medicine’s relationship with the society it serves, which is an issue of importance to both parties. First, it is our firm belief that understanding medicine’s relationship to society in a time of change and uncertainty is essential if meaningful negotiations over the nature of this relationship are to take place.
