Professionalism of the public health workforce – how to make it happen?

The pandemic has highlighted the need for a strong and multidisciplinary public health workforce (PHW), whose defined professional code is to save lives, protect and improve health. Discussed in this article is the public and politicians need to have confidence in the expertise of public health leaders, and they need to be able to put their trust in a group of people with a public health skill set.
